Aghanistan and ireland being the most dominant of the associate cricketing nations were awarded with the test status by governing body of ICC recently. Ireland got to face Pakistan earlier this summer.Now it was Aghanistan’s turn to face the mighty India for their first ever test.

India won the toss and elected to bat first.

It was almost Indian B team that faced the minnow Afghanistan. India started off in a splendid manner with both their openers, Vijay and Dhawan scoring 105 and 107 respectively.

After their departure it was the experienced Rahul and young impressive Pandya who took the charge and scored 54 and 71 respectively and that too with a healthy strike rate of 84.37 and 75.53 respectively.

India ended their innings at 474 all out in 105th over of the game.

Talking about Afghanistan’s bowling attack, Ahmedzai was the pick of the bowlers taking 3 important wickets in 19 overs giving 51 runs.

Time for Afghanistan’s batting lineup to show some spark.

Afghanistan had a shaky start as their most experienced batsman Shahzad got run out cheaply for 14 runs only.Afghanistan lost their first six wickets for 59 runs only and then it was their season campaigner Muhammad Nabi who scored 24 runs taking the total to 109 runs.

Ashwin was the bowling star from the Indian side taking four wickets for only 27 runs.Sharma and Jadeja took 2 wickets a piece.

Rahane, the Indian Captain invited Afghan side to follow on their innings.

The picture wasn’t different even this time either for the new Afghan batting side.Afghanistan lost top 4 wickets for only 24 runs.Both Shehzad and Nabi were sent back to pavilion quite early.Hashmatullah remained not out scoring 36 runs while Afghans lost all their wickets for 103 runs.

This time Jadeja was the pick of the bowlers taking 4 wickets for 17 runs only.Yadav took 3 while I Sharma took 2 wickets.

India won the match comfortably by an innings and 262 runs.
