Cricket was considered to be a men dominant game ever since its advent. No one knew the sport would turn immensely popular among the opposite gender too.
Recently the international council for cricket conducted an Asian women cup tournament. All the cricket playing nations from the continent took part in the event. Pakistan and India women side was considered amongst the favorites to lift the trophy.
But Cricket is such an amazing and unpredictable contest of the teams. The side that puts in a little extra and present something extra ordinary on the day can do wonders in the game.
So was the case with the underdog Bangladesh women side. Their constant and untiring efforts made them to achieve what the men from their nation have never yet accomplished.
Yes the Bangladesh women side made it to the top of the Asian women cricket list by lifting the 2018 ICC women Asian cup. Bangladesh men side has yet not won any major ICC tournament where as the less facilitated women side has amazingly to all of our surprise lifted the Asia cup trophy for the season 2018. Much to learn for the Bangla men from their fellow ladies.
For the all important Asia cup final the Bangladesh side was head to head with much more experienced Indian side. India while batting first posted a weak total of 112-9 in their respective 20 overs. All credit to some economical bowling by the Bangladesh girls. Khadija and Rumana lead the bowling attack with 2 wickets a piece.
Bangladesh started off their batting good and handsome, the openers added 35 runs for the first wicket chasing a comparatively small total. But some good economical bowling by Indian girls and fall of Bangladeshi wickets in cluster brought the match to the exciting last over. India trusted their off spinner Caur for the last over Bangladesh needed 9 of it. With their set batsman Rumana on the crease.
With two wickets falling and a boundary of the first five balls brought the equation to 2 required of the last ball. This was when Jahanara clipped the ball towards the deep midwicket and ran a quick double bringing the trophy home. Rumana was awarded the player of the match award for a fine all-round performance
